Hourly, weekly and monthly pay to annual salary
For a regular schedule paid for 52 weeks, multiply your hourly rate by weekly hours and then by 52. Gross salary is the amount before tax and payroll deductions. To convert annual gross pay back into an hourly rate, divide it by the paid hours in the year.
$25 × 40 hours × 52 weeks = $52,000 gross/year
Pay frequencies
Weekly: × 52. Every two weeks: × 26. Twice monthly: × 24. Monthly: × 12. Biweekly and twice monthly are different schedules. Check your employment contract and payroll calendar; some years include an extra pay period.
Paid vacation and unpaid leave
Paid vacation remains part of pay and does not reduce annual gross salary. Two unpaid weeks reduce the paid period to 50 weeks. Vacation pay paid on top of wages is not modelled. Pay per hour actually worked is different from pay per paid hour.
Quebec tax, QPP, QPIP and Employment Insurance in 2026
Income tax is progressive: each rate applies to income within its bracket. The model separates base QPP contributions from deductible enhanced contributions. The effective deduction rate combines taxes and contributions and should not be confused with the marginal income tax rate.

Salary conversion and net pay by province
Gross annual conversion works for all Canadian provinces and territories. Net estimates in this version cover Quebec only. Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and other jurisdictions have different tax credits and contributions; a Quebec result should not be used for them.
For payroll outside Quebec, use the official CRA calculator. For Quebec payroll, use WebRAS. Employment province can differ from residence province; that situation is outside this model.
Methodology, limitations and sources
A simplified annual model for an employee aged 18–64 with one Quebec employer and full-year Quebec residence, no dependants, RRSP, other income or taxable benefits. It applies progressive brackets, base personal amounts, the Canada employment amount, federal contribution credits, the 16.5% Quebec abatement and the worker deduction.
Enhanced QPP contributions are deducted from taxable income. Quebec tax does not add separate credits for QPP, EI or QPIP contributions. The net estimate excludes refundable credits, employee insurance, union dues and prescription drug premiums. It is not a tax return or an official payroll statement.
Values are retained without intermediate rounding and displayed to the nearest dollar. Periodic payroll deductions and official rounding may differ. Parameters and content reviewed on October 11, 2026.
Frequently asked salary questions
How do I calculate annual salary from an hourly wage?
Multiply your hourly rate by weekly hours and paid weeks. At $25/hour, 40 hours/week and 52 paid weeks, annual gross salary is $52,000.
Does paid vacation reduce annual salary?
No. Paid vacation remains paid. Only unpaid leave reduces pay in this model; vacation pay added on top of wages is a separate calculation.
What is the difference between biweekly and twice-monthly pay?
Biweekly usually means 26 payments per year; twice monthly means 24. Some payroll calendar years include an extra pay period.
Does this calculator estimate net salary in every province?
Gross salary conversion is available for every province. Net tax estimates cover Quebec only. Use the official CRA payroll calculator for other provinces and territories.
Which deductions apply to Quebec net pay?
This estimate subtracts federal income tax, Quebec income tax, QPP and QPP2, QPIP, and Employment Insurance. It includes the stated base credits and deductions.
Why does my paycheque differ from an annual estimate?
Benefits, insurance, union dues, RRSP contributions, personal credits, irregular pay and payroll rounding can change take-home pay. For Quebec payroll, compare with WebRAS using matching assumptions.
